Seventh Qatar Malayali Conference
Seventh edition of Qatar Malayali Conference (“Qatar Malayali Sammelanam”) was held on 22nd, 26th and on 29th of January 2021. “Mahitham Manaveeyam” (Humanity, the glorious virtue) was the theme of the event. The event was inaugurated by Dr. K.T.Jaleel, Hon Minister for Higher Education, Government of Kerala. Prominent academicians, politicians, authors, and media persons spoke at various sessions of the Seventh Qatar Malayali Conference.
Various sessions conducted as part of the conference include Opening Ceremony, A Discussion on “Indian Democracy – Present and Future”, Manava Maithri Samgamam (Human Amity Meet), and Closing Ceremony. E.T. Muhammed Basheer M.P, Rajeev Sankaran, Academic Head- Media One, Mujeeb Rahman Kinalur, K.T. Kunhikkannan, M.T. Manaf and VC Mashood were the speakers at the discussion program on Indian Democracy. “Manava Maithri Samgamam (Human Amity Meet)” – program was held on 29-January-2021. Fr. Davis Chiramel, Swami Athmadas Yami, C.M Moulavi Aluva, Ismail Kariyad and K.N.Sulaiman Madani spoke on the occasion. Sayyid Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal inaugurated the session.
Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly, P. Shreeramakrishnan, inaugurated the closing ceremony of the conference. Former Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. Oommen Chandy, VT Balram MLA, Adv Jyoti Radhika Vijayakumar, N.M Abdul Jaleel, C.P Ummer Sullami, Ziad Usman, A Sunil Kumar, Sameer Eramala, Salah Karadan, Ashhad Faizy, and Zainaba Anvariyya spoke on the occasion. Padma Shri award recipient Ali Manikfan was feted at the event.
Since 1999, Qatar Malayali Conferences were organized by Qatar Indian Islahi Centre, with the support of other Indian expatriate community members in Qatar.
Qatar Indian Islahi Centre has organized six events in the past, under the banner of Qatar Malayali Conference. Thousands of Malayalam speaking Indian community members from all walks of life attended the past events.
The seventh edition of the program has been conducted online due to the spread of Covid 19. Qatar Malayali Conferences are considered to be the biggest gathering of Indian expatriate community in the middle east.
